The biggest T20 carnival, ICC T20 World Cup 2022, will truly get underway when the arch-rivals India and Pakistan go head-to-head on 23rd Oct, 2022 at the MCG. The T20 World Cup might have already started, but when Pakistan and India face, the atmosphere is going to be electrifying. Supporters of both sides are going to scream at the top of their voice, supporting their respective nations in full tilt.
While Pakistan might have won the previous encounter against India in the T20 WC, this time team India seems strong enough to turn the tables. There are reasons why Pakistan might come second best, few of them are as follows:

India’s Batting looks class apart
When you have Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli as your top 3, you have class written all over. As if these 3 names are not enough, the players to follow are likely to take the game away from their opponents in a matter of few deliveries. India’s middle order batters Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pnadya, Dinesh Karthik, and Rishab Pant have been in some tremendous ball-striking form. If either of these gets going, opponents would go clueless as to what hit them.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain for T20 World Cup 2022, has a great hunger to perform in ICC events, and this time around he would surely want to get his hands around the coveted ICC T20 trophy. Suryakumar Yadav has been in some magical touch, with shots that has earned him the nickname, “Mr. 360” (now that AB de Villiers is not around playing cricket, we can safely say, the only one).
The only concern coming into the world cup was Virat Kohli’s dip in form, but he has addressed that issue in some style since Asia Cup 2022. During the Asia Cup 2022, Virat also managed to notch up his 71st International and 1st T20I hundred against Afghanistan, a hundred that the world has been waiting for since 2019. His recent T20I form seems threatening and to make matters worse for Pakistan, Virat has a staggering average of 67.67 against Pakistan in 9 T20Is, where he has amassed 406 runs.
The only concern for team India batters will be the way they play and handle the new ball against the likes of Pakistani quicks Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.

Pakistan’s Middle-Order Woes
While Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been in some tremendous form, the middle-order for Pakistan seems very shaky. Not one in particular seems in great form in the middle-order, and this is where teams can target team Pakistan. If India gets Babar and Rizwan early, the game would have been half won there. The over reliance on openers not only puts extra pressure on Babar and Rizwan, but also gives an opportunity to the opponents to exploit the vulnerable middle-order of Pakistan.
As an opening pair, Babar and Rizwan average well above 50, but it is the middle order that has to step up. It was the pair of Babar and Rizwan that saw Pakistan team home against India in T20 WC 2021. In the recently concluded 7-match T20I series against England, Rizwan scored 316 runs in 6 games at an average of 63.2 and strike rate 138.6 and Babar scored 285 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 143.22.
Pakistan will be hoping that the middle order batters Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, and Asif Ali come good against India. The failure of the middle-order could cost Pakistan the T20 World Cup 2022, despite having a brilliant bowling line-up and a sensational opening pair.
India’s in form Spin Attack
Team India has one of the best spin attacks for the T20 World Cup 2022. With the crafty Yuzi Chahal, accurate left-arm orthodox Axar Patel, and immensely experienced Ravichandran Ashwin. Axar made an entry into India’s squad after Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out due to injury; a like-for-like replacement, Axar is expected to bowl some tight overs and pick up crucial wickets when the opposition looks to walk away with the game.
The wily leg-spinner Chahal certainly knows how to draw a false shot from a batter. The bigger ground dimensions in Australia will certainly allow Chahal to flight the ball more, hoping that the batter gets tempted and plays a wrong shot. If Axar and Chahal fail to get a batter, there is Ashwin who comes up with his bag of tricks to fool batters. India are most likely to go with Chahal and Axar, but then Ashwin can bring a lot with his batting too.
Pakistan being a subcontinent side, are expected to play spin well, but their out-of-form middle-order might have some other ideas.
Overall, team India will have a clear upper hand on Pakistan when the 2 teams play at the T20 cricket world cup 2022.
